We are looking for Human Resources Business Partners for our Mississauga/Ingersoll and Scarborough locations.  This position maintains employee morale by assisting in resolving conflicts, advising management and supervisors, in the application of existing and new Human Resources policies and procedures and legislated procedures.

 

Mississauga/Ingersoll - This position will be primarily located out of our Mississauga facility but will require one day per week at our Ingersoll facility.

 

Scarborough - This position is located out of our Corporate Office and will be responsible for our Liner Board Mill.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares managers and supervisors to interact with employees by recommending, developing and conducting training programs, reviewing proposed decisions and actions for consistency of application
  • Assists in resolving management and employee issues by investigating complaints and concerns, evaluating and offering possible courses of action, providing advice, guidance and direction for quick resolution.
  • Maintains human resources records by coaching and directing supervisors in the preparation of clear documentation of incidents and resolution of problems, and the importance of building employee confidence by protecting reputations and keeping information confidential.
  • Complies with Government legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation for Employment Standards and Human Rights, obtaining options from legal counsel, enforcing adherence to requirements, advising management on needed actions.
  • Assist in representation of the Company at arbitration hearings by preparing, collecting and presenting information.
  • Maintain open communication channels with employees and managers by answering questions, explaining policies and procedures, encouraging the use of all communication channels.
  • Maintain HR practices by recommending changes or clarification of existing policies, developing new policies and procedures as required including, Performance Management, job description updates.
  • Fill job vacancies by attracting, screening and interviewing applicants, conducting employee orientations. Determine reasons for turnover by conducting exit interviews.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks.
  • Interpretation and compliance with the Collective Agreement by coaching managers and supervisors for consistency of application in dispute resolution, conducting effective disciplinary meetings and providing effective related documentation.
  • Prepare and deliver regular training and development plans for all employees, by investigating and analyzing needs through liaison with department managers. 
  • Develop instructional methods and materials and conduct internal training sessions when feasible, and/or recommend external training programs.  Evaluate training and development effectiveness through the use of training evaluation questionnaire; assess application of learning to job performance.  Maintain master training log and employee training files.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results and other projects as assigned.
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance to Health and Safety Legislation by consulting with the WSIB, and Health and Safety Coordinator to develop and deliver training programs 

Requirements:

 

  • Post Secondary Education in related field; CHRP or in progress
  • Strong knowledge of  labour law, employment law, Human Rights legislation
  • 5+ years experience in Human Resources Generalist role in a union and non-union environment
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs
  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with training programs, recruitment techniques, performance management systems, dispute resolution, application of Collective Agreement language
